24, 000 Police on ground for Ondo guber poll

Police personnel of about 24,000 from across the various Police commands in the country will be deployed to Ondo State for the November 26 governorship election in the state.

The Police Officers who are to work with the Police personnel in the state are expected to arrive the state a week to the election.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mrs Hilda Harrison who disclosed these at a stakeholders meeting held with representatives of various political parties participating in the election said her men would be complimented by other security agencies during the poll.

She said the Police Officers who will be deployed from various Police commands including the force headquarters would be deployed to all the nooks and crannies of the state days before the election to prevent pre-election crisis in all parts of the state.

The Police Commissioner said “we are working to ensure that peace reigns in the state during the forthcoming election, and it is important for the Political parties to join hands with us to ensure that we achieve our aim.”

She urged the people to use the advantage of various technological devices to report any erring Police officer during, before and during the election.

The Police Commissioner who supervised the signing of peace pact among all the political parties contesting the election, urged all the parties to abide by the agreement to ensure peace in the state before, during and after the poll.

She assured all political parties of the total co-operation of the Police before, during and after the election.
