Clinton ‘unfit’ to serve as president, says Trump

Republican Donald Trump continued his verbal attack on Democratic rival Hillary Clinton Saturday, as the GOP nominee said she is unfit to serve as president because of her derogatory comments toward some Trump supporters.

“Hillary Clinton should be ashamed of herself, and this proves beyond a doubt that she is unfit and incapable to serve as President of the United States,” Trump said, according to a statement released by his campaign Saturday.
On Friday, Clinton derided some of Trump’s supporters in a speech during a fundraiser in New York City.

“You know, to just be grossly generalistic, you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. Right? The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic — you name it,” Clinton said.

Clinton said on Saturday that she regretted the remark.

In his own statement, Trump said Clinton’s “grotesque attack on American voters” revealed her true feelings.

“How can she be President of our country when she has such contempt and disdain for so many great Americans?” said Trump.
