The Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos State has scored Governor Akinwunmi Ambode 10 per cent for his performance in his first six months in office.
The Publicity Secretary of the PDP in Lagos State, Mr. Taofik Gani, during an interview with our correspondent on Wednesday, said that the governor had not done well in any sector.
Gani said the governor could not take credit for the procurement of crime-fighting equipment because they were bought through the Lagos State Security Trust Fund which is sustained by banks, multinationals and members of the public.

Gani said Ambode should focus on his promise of reducing the unemployment rate in the state
He said, “The performance of the governor has been disappointing despite the propaganda that helped him get into power. In the area of education, things are worse. The Lagos State University is now worse. No infrastructure has been built in the school.
“The traffic congestion in the state is very bad as trucks now park on bridges with impunity. The governor has reduced the power of traffic officials that should manage traffic.
“So, we score him 10 per cent as he has not been able to meet the expectations of the people. Spending over N4bn on security equipment is high. We believe the amount was grossly exaggerated. Let him reveal to us the amount of money in the LSSTF.”
Gani told Ambode to give a breakdown of how the money was spent instead of just stating that N4bn was spent.
The PDP spokesperson wondered what happened to the over 1,000 CCTVs inaugurated by former Governor Babatunde Fashola as well as the helicopters bought by Fashola and his predecessor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
He added, “We do not believe that N4bn was spent on funding the police which is a Federal Government responsibility. The governor should give us a breakdown of the spending. Let us know how much each helicopter cost and how much each patrol van cost.
“Ambode should throw in the towel because he has made people lose confidence in politicians due to his poor performance.”

Gani faulted Ambode’s promise that the Okokomaiko-Marina light rail would be completed before December 2016.
He said it was the tradition of the All Progressives Congress to always tell lies, adding that this was how Fashola promised that the light rail would be completed before 2012.
The PDP spokesman also faulted the recent inauguration of over 200 BRT buses by the Ambode-led government.
He said the scheme had not been well managed and wondered what the government was planning to do differently.
However, the Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Mr. Joe Igbokwe, told our correspondent that the PDP in Lagos had yet to come to terms with the defeat it suffered in the last elections.
The APC spokesman said Lagos PDP had become hungry because there was no more money coming from Abuja since the party had lost power at the centre.
Igbokwe said Lagos was undergoing a silent revolution under Ambode which would soon be visible. He said six months were too little to evaluate the governor’s performance as he still had over 40 months left in his tenure.
