Surprisingly, you can’t block Mark Zuckerberg on Facebook
YOU can try as hard as you want, but you can’t block Mark Zuckerberg on Facebook. There’s been a rash of stories lately about this, but Zuck has been unblockable for years.
Disappointingly, it’s not a joke by Facebook’s engineers, down to Zuckerberg’s vanity, or because he needs to keep an eye on you.
According to Mashable, it’s the product of a safeguard built in to the site to prevent trolling campaigns against certain people.
If one account has been blocked a lot in a short space of time, the safeguard will kick in and prevent any more blocks, just in case the person is being targeted by bullies or a viral campaign.
Facebook says the system is there to “protect the experience for people targeted by these campaigns.” So there’s nothing too nefarious going on there, it’s just an automatic block-blocker.
It does tell us one thing, however — there’s a lot of people who are constantly trying to block Mark Zuckerberg on Facebook.
But with one of the most popular accounts on the site (he’s got over 40 million followers), that’s not too surprising.
