Titanic II To Sail In 2022 And Will Follow Same Route As First Ship
Cruise ship Titanic II named after the original Titanic, which famously sank back in 1912 after crashing into an iceberg during its maiden voyage between Southampton and New York CityTitanic II will be sailing on its maiden voyage in 2022, on the same route as the original liner .
We’re talking about a brand new, very real ship from Australian company Blue Star Line which is set to sail on its maiden voyage in 2022.
Of course this replica will have much more up-to-date safety features and navigation technology – although it’s inspired by the infamous liner, it will boast modern day amenities and features.
However, there will be plenty of nods to Titanic itself, from the layout and interiors, with designs inspired by the iconic ship – including a near identical version of the ship’s grand staircase.
Titanic II is expected to carry approximately 2,400 passengers as well as 900 members of crew.
The project has been a few years in the making with the company first announcing plans to build the ship in 2013, and while there were several models and tests already taking place, the venture was stalled during some financial disputes.
However the project is now firmly back on track, with a 2022 launch although the exact date has yet to be confirmed.
Blue Star Line recently revealed it would be setting up its headquarters in Paris, in light of Brexit and the likelihood of a no-deal agreement being reached between the UK and European Union.
Blue Star Line chairman Clive Palmer said in a statement: “It is of little use having a European headquarters outside Europe. The decision will mean we won’t open our European office until March 2019, with Paris being ideally placed to suit the company’s needs.”
