Zenith Bank New GMD Onyeagwu, Assures of Consolidation of Gains

The Group Managing Director of Zenith Bank Plc, Ebenezer Onyeagwu, has said that with him in the saddle as new CEO, the bank will continue with the tradition and vision of excellence o the founding father Jim Ovia, which has led to several gains for the bank, in financial industry in Nigeria.
The Zenith Bank’s CEO disclosed this on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) while addressing traders and investors in Lagos. Onyeagwu who had the privilege to close the market sounding the closing Gong, maintained that his job had been made easier by the former CEOs of the bank whom he describd as laying a solid foundation for him to work on.
According to him ,the founder of the bank Jim Ovia did a lot of ground breaking work in the bank that has kept it solid over the years, saying that Ovia did not only saw the vision on which the bank runs, but also laid a solid foundation or superstructure.
He said the performance of former Managing Directors, Godwin Emiefele and Peter Amangbo added to the success of the bank and ensured that Zenith Bank Plc is in a class of its own today. He said the bank will explore opportunities in the economy to grow its earnings and generate better returns to investors.
While he praised Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) current effort to ensure SME’s in the country are able to access loans more efficiently. He said the policy would ultimately boost our retail trade and enable the economy.
Adding that all these are possible, because of the introduction of BVN, which have enabled Nigeria to solve its financial identity problems. On his part the NSE Chief Executive Officer, Oscar Onyema who graced the occasion said the event was to introduce the newly appointed Zenith Bank helmsman to the market.
