Between July and September this year, the country imported 4.37 billion litres of petrol, figures for the oil sector obtained from the National Bureau of Statistics have revealed.
In the Petroleum Products Report which was released in Abuja, NBS said that the country imported 873.72 million litres of automotive gas oil and 312.71 million litres of household kerosene were also imported during the period.
The report reads in part, “The petroleum products importation statistics for Q3 2018 reflected that 4.37 billion litres of premium motor spirits, 873.72 million litres of automotive gas oil, 312.71 million litres of household kerosene, 212.8 million litres of aviation turbine kerosene, and 162.37 million litres of Liquefied Petroleum Gas were imported into the country in Q3 2018.
“The months of September 2018 recorded the highest volume of premium motor spirits imported into the country at 1.59 billion litres while the highest volume of automotive gas oil and household kerosene were imported in July and August 2018 respectively.”
