DAVIDSON, N.C. (AP) — Jovan Smith ran for a touchdown late in the game to put Morehead State up 35-28 over Davidson for its first conference win on Saturday.

The teams were tied at 28-all late in the fourth quarter when Smith ran 30-yards for the winning score. After the kickoff, Brandon Barbee intercepted Davidson’s Tyler Phelps on first down to seal the victory.

Smith finished with 127 yards rushing for the Eagles (2-4, 1-2 Pioneer League). Lawson Page threw for 166 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another score.

Page threw a pair of touchdown passes late in the first quarter, one to Ian Holder and the other to Jarin Higginbotham. The point after was blocked on the first but Page made up for that on the second with a two-point conversion throw to Chris Nelson and the Eagles went ahead, 14-7. The teams were tied 21-all at halftime.
