Quality products essential, SON tells food, beverage firms
The Director-General/Chief Executive, Standards Organisation of Nigeria, Mr Osita Aboloma, has called on manufacturers in the food and beverage industries to ensure production of quality products at all times.
He said this on Wednesday during the presentation of the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System certificate to the Rite Foods Limited at its factory in Ososa, along Ijebu-Ode/Benin Expressway, Ogun State.
The company produces beverage, sausage rolls and table water.
Aboloma, who was represented by the Director, Laboratory Services, Mrs Mojisola Kehinde, highlighted the importance of quality in food production to promote public health.
While commending the company’s management for its commitment to quality in all its production processes, he noted that the achievement was a demonstration of its conformity to the internationally acceptable standard requirements with focus on continual improvement.
Kehinde said, “The production of quality food products is of great interest to the nation since it promotes public health, especially in the face of the prevailing health challenges in the country.
“By the presentation of this certificate today, Rite Foods Limited is adjudged to have a system that gives customers and interested parties assurance of your ability to consistently provide products that meet relevant requirements.
“This focus on production of quality products will also strengthen your competitive strategies.”
Kehinde advised the management of the company to consistently ensure improvement in its quality management systems.
He also urged all other private and public organisations that were yet to embrace the ISO management approach to do so.
The Managing Director, Rites Foods, Mr Seleem Adegunwa, said the company would not rest on its oars as far as production of quality food and beverage were concerned.
He said the company would extend its products to neighbouring African countries after effectively metting the demands of consumers in Nigeria.
