Vic gambling revenue to reach $2 billion

Victorian gambling taxes are close to tipping the $2 billion mark for the first time, a parliamentary committee has been told.

Reason Party MP Fiona Patten questioned Treasurer Tim Pallas on the figures, which will come to about $1.87 billion in the 2017/18 financial year.

Mr Pallas said it was expected to increase about 1.6 per cent a year, “but it’s increasing at a lesser level than the general background revenue it terms of the state,” he told a hearing on Tuesday.
