UBA appoints new regional CEO for 6 West African countries
United Bank for Africa (UBA) has appointed its first female banker, Abiola Bawuah as its new regional Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for six West African countries.
Bawuah, according to a statement, will oversee the bank’s businesses in Ghana, Benin Republic, Burkina Faso, Cote D’Ivoire, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
The bank said that prior to her appointment, Bawuah had managed the affairs of UBA Ghana as chief executive officer since 2013.
Also, she has worked as the deputy managing director at UBA Ghana, executive director at Zenith Bank and business financial manager at Standard Chartered Bank.
Bawuah, according to the statement, has enormous experience in retail banking and marketing.
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Actuarial Science from the University of Lagos, Nigeria, an LLB with honors from the University of London, a diploma in Marketing from GIMPA and an EMBA (Finance) from the University of Ghana.
