South Africa’s trade surplus eases to 6 billion rand in August

JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) – South Africa’s trade surplus retreated to 5.94 billion rand ($440 million) in August from a revised 9.33 billion rand surplus in July, data from the revenue agency showed on Friday.
Exports rose 11 percent to 103.4 billion rand on a month-on-month basis in August, while imports were up 16.3 percent to 97.4 billion rand, the South African Revenue Service said in a statement.
