As construction commences on the 10-lane Lagos International Airport Road, the Chairman of Golden Tulip Essential Hotel, Ifeanyi Onwubiko, has announced that the hotel, in partnership with Rescue Technologies Limited, has set up a 24-hour ambulance service along the airport road and its environs to take care of accidents or other forms of emergencies that may arise in the course of the execution of the project.

Onwubiko, who commended the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, for the decision to embark on the Lagos airport road project, said the provision of the free ambulance service was part of the hotel’s contribution to the smooth and safe execution of the road project.

Onwubiko said one of the reasons the Murtala Muhammed International Airport continues to be rated among the worst and most dangerous airports in the world is because of the poor, filthy and insecure road that leads to it.

Onwubiko said the best ranking airports all over the world are adorned with dignified roads leading into and out of them assuring that the new Lagos airport road would give it a very good face-lift.

His said, “the state of your surrounding tells a lot of stories of who you are. So, the Lagos international airport road as it is at the moment is not telling a good story about Nigeria. Therefore, I am happy that the governor of Lagos State has taken it upon himself to give the road a face-lift and redeem the image of the country. I had long ago expected the tourism industry to lead the campaign for the modernisation of the road, which is from where foreigners begin to rate the country. But it seems they don’t understand the impact good roads can have in their sector. Right now, the governor has taken it upon himself to clean their shame.”

The construction of the road would also give Lagos state as a whole a face lift and attract more investments to the state,” he added.
