The gunmen, it was gathered, made away with two AK47 rifles belonging to the victims.
The two deceased sergeants, according to a source, were deployed in the area to check the activities of bandits who had been terrorising the area.
The source said the injured policemen were rushed to the General Hospital, Kafanchan
The source said, “The incident occurred this morning around 9.30am. Two policemen were killed by gunmen along Kagoro-Gidan Waya Road. We strongly believe the gunmen are Fulani herdsmen that have been killing people in our community.
“In all, six policemen were at the checkpoint, two of them were killed and their AK47 rifles were taken away by the herdsmen. Others, about two of them, sustained serious injuries from gun shots while the remaining two managed to escape unhurt.”
