Investors appetite for Access, UBA shares raise NSE’s Index by 48.23 points
Transactions at the Nigerian Stock Exchange yesterday showed that investors interest in Access Bank Plc and United Bank for Africa Plc shares raised the All-Share Index of the Exchange by 48.23 points to 27,437.25 from the 27,389.02 of the previous day.
Consequently, Access Bank emerged the top traded stock by volume with 65.98million shares worth N362.26 million. With an exchange of 57.05million shares valued at N28.24million UBA followed. While 37.26million units of Guaranty Trust Bank shares worth N825.3million were traded.
On the gainers’ table, Total led the ranks with a growth of N3 closing at N251 per share. Nestle followed suit gaining N1.01 to close at N825.01 while Ecobank gained N0.92 to close at N11.48.
Conversely, International Breweries topped the losers’ chart by posting a drop of N1 while closing at N19 per share; closely followed by Cement Company of Northern Plc which dropped by N0.59 to close at N6.01. Zenith Bank trailed closing at N15 on account of a N0.25 drop in its share price.
Market capitalisation recorded a growth of N17 billion closing at N9.423 trillion against N9.406 trillion the previous day. Volume of shares traded dropped with 3,438 deals consummated compared to 3,512 the previous day as investors staked N2.28 billion on 297.47 million shares.
