‘Nigeria will miss wise counsel of Olubadan,’ Says, Pres. Buhari

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday said that Nigeria would miss the wise counsels of Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Samuel Odulana.

While commiserating with the people of Ibadan and the government of Oyo State on the passing away of the monarch at the age of 101 years, the President, who also expressed his condolences in a statement by his special adviser on media, Mr. Femi Adesina described the traditional ruler as a patriot, promoter of peace, unity and champion of the wellbeing of his subjects.

He noted that the passage of Oba Odulana is a great loss not only to the people of Ibadan, but also the entire country as the rich and wise counsel of the late royal father will be missed.

“Nigeria needs the wisdom of such senior citizens and their wealth of experience and moral standards, especially at a time like this that we want to change the orientation and ethical values of our people to place higher priority on hard work, discipline, honesty, accountability and transparency”, he said.

Consoling the deceased family and relations, president Buhari asked them to take solace in the fact that he lived well and left behind remarkable imprints for his successor and admirers to emulate, asking God to grant his soul a peaceful rest.
