NSE Market Capitalisation Rises By N66bn

Market capitalisation at the Nigerian Stock Exchange appreciated by N66bn to close at N9.255tn from N9.189tn after the close of trading on Tuesday.

A total of 20 stocks emerged gainers while 16 depreciated in value.

A total of 397.257 shares worth N2.644bn exchanged hands in 2,683 deals.

The NSE All Share Index closed at 26,918.22 from 26,728.64 point.

The highest index point recorded was 26,953.05 while the lowest and average index points stood at 26,537.36 and 26,817.14, respectively.

Despite the appreciation in market capitalisation, Transnational Corporation of Nigeria Plc, Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, Africa Prudential Registrars Plc, Continental Reinsurance Plc and Diamond Bank Plc topped the losers’ chart.

Other losers were Portland Paints and Products Nigeria Plc, Learn Africa Plc, PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc, FCMB Group Plc, Fidson Healthcare Plc, Wema Bank Plc, Sterling Bank Plc, Zenith Bank Plc, Champion Breweries Plc, International Breweries Plc and Nascon Allied Industries Plc.

Transcorp share price closed at N1.33 from N1.45, losing N0.12 (8.28 per cent) while that of Guaranty Trust Bank shed N1.00 (five per cent) to close at N19 from N20.

Africa Prudential Registrars’ shares closed at N2.37 from N2.49, shedding N0.12 (4.82 per cent).

The shares of Continental Reinsurance depreciated by N0.05 (4.59 per cent) to close at N1.04 from N1.09 while that of Diamond Bank closed at N2.33 from N2.44, losing N0.11 (4.51 per cent).

Topping the gainers’ table on Tuesday were E-Tranzact International Plc, Unity Bank Plc, Mobil Oil Nigeria Plc, Forte Oil Plc and Skye Bank Plc.

Other gainers were Nigerian Breweries Plc, Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc, Airline Services and Logistics Plc, Cement Company of Northern Nigeria Plc, May and Baker Nigeria Plc, Honeywell Flour Mill Plc, UACN Plc, United Bank for Africa Plc, Lafarge Africa Plc and United Capital Plc.

Others on the list were Custodian and Allied Plc, Fidelity Bank Plc, Okomu Oil Palm Plc, Oando Plc and Dangote Cement Plc.

E-Tranzact shares appreciated by N0.28 (9.59 per cent) to close at N3.20 from N2.92 while that of Unity Bank Plc closed at N0.86 from N0.79, gaining N0.07 (8.86 per cent).

Mobil Oil share price also appreciated by N10.20 (8.5 per cent) to close at N130.20 from N120 while Forte Oil share price rose to N273 from N254.10, adding N18.90 (7.44 per cent).

Similarly, Skye Bank shares appreciated by N0.08 (6.35 per cent) to close at N1.34 from N1.26 recorded on Monday.
