The American government said it is exploring every avenue in backing the federal government to win the war against terrorism in Nigeria.
The American Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. James F. Entwistle, gave this assurance yesterday, during an interaction with Journalists after delivering a speech on wildlife conservation at the American Corner in Calabar.
Entwistle said he was in touch with authorities in Nigeria to constantly find a way to defeat terrorism in the country, assuring Nigerians that America was a reliable partner in the fight against terror.

“I can assure you that my country, more than any other country, is working constantly to explore ways of tackling the Boko Haram insurgency. I am working with the Nigerian authorities to ensure that the menace is completely eradicated in Nigeria,” he said.
Although he acknowledged that the issue of insurgency was a global one, the Ambassador promised that the American government will not leave Nigeria alone in the fight.
“Even in my country, in California, we had issues with terrorism and we are not going to fold our hands and watch the world in turmoil. The issue of terrorism is a global issue that needs global response and we are taking the lead in this regard,” Entwistle pointed out.
He said the long-standing relationship between his country and Nigeria would not allow America to sit by and watch some people who do not regard life to waste the lives of the people.
