Support Buhari’s anti-corruption crusade, Minister pleads with Nigerians

The Minister of Communication, Mr Adebayo Shittu, has called on Nigerians to give maximum support to the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari to transform the nation and fight corruption.
Shittu made the appeal in Ibadan on Saturday at a reception organised for him at the Kakanfo Inn conference hall.
“We must all support President Muhammadu Buhari to succeed and I will do my very best to be part of the change agents for the benefit of all,’’ he promised.
He said that Nigerians have roles to play by offering useful counsels to government officials, saying a tree cannot make a forest.
“You should also assist us by seeking from us only those things that are legitimate, which will not in any way lower our integrity,’’ he said.
Shittu urged the people to always ensure that whatever proposals they are bringing to them are defensible and must be able to pass through diligent due process.
He said that there was no magic anywhere but the government would operate as it should be, that is, in a transparent manner.
Shittu said that he would establish a ministerial constituency office, set up ministerial advisory committee, and appoint a special assistant on employment/empowerment.
He said he will also appoint a special assistant on the disabled and vulnerable.
He stressed the need for the people of the state to support, collaborate and complement Gov. Abiola Ajimobi in his efforts at developing Oyo State.
Shittu also commended the party’s leadership, members and supporters.
“In all honesty, the achievement of the APC could not be divorced from the ingenuity and political sagacity of Sen Bola Tinubu, the party’s national leader, the maturity and doggedness of Chief Bisi Akande.
“We can’t also do without saluting the foresight and organisational ability of the APC National Chairman, Chief John Oyegun, and all members of the party’s National Working Committee,’’ he said.
