NNPC to partner Indian hospital
Managing Director, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr. Maikanti Baru, has expressed hope for the corporation to partner with Indian health companies in the area of health care services.
Baru made this known when a delegation of Indian business men led by the Head of Chancery of the High Commission of India, Mr. M.S. Kanyal visited him, on Wednesday in Abuja
He said the ideas of seeking such partnership was to upgrade NNPC Hospitals to a level where it could handle medical emergencies in-country.
According to him, it will also help to stem the tide of medical tourism and its attendant capital flight.
In a statement signed by Mr Ndu Ughamadu, Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs division, he further said that he had invited Indian health experts to participate in its proposed health management business.
“The health management business will be a one-stop-shop for medical care in Nigeria,’’ he said
He called on the Indian business delegation to look beyond oil and gas in its dealings with NNPC as the Corporation was on the verge of retooling its non-core businesses to be revenue earners in line with the drive to make the Corporation profitable.
Responding Kanyal said the delegation’s visit was aimed at strengthening the business relationship between Nigeria and India to meet the growth aspirations of both countries.
